Origin Story

My love affair with spicy food started before age 10 in Texas with chips, salsa, and enchiladas after Sunday church. My obsession further fomented while waiting tables at Tex-Mex restaurants through college. My taste diversified while roaming through southern Mexico, the Yucatán Peninsula and Central America with my wife, Jill, as often as we could in our 20's and 30's.

On a trip to Mexico in 2006, I saw this guy. See him, behind the tower of dried chilis? I could buy all the chilis this guy could sell, but how would I get them out of Mexico? Enter, the Washington, DC farmer's market scene with the best peppers this side of the border.
